Welcome to Pilmoor Memorial UMC

At Pilmoor Memorial UMC, we are Spirit-led, Christ-centered, and service-focused. Our mission is simple yet bold: to make disciples for the transformation of the world as a Spirit-led family of Christians who love God, follow Jesus, and serve others. These are not just words; they are our way of life together.

We are stepping forward in faith with a grip on our past and God’s preferred future. Rooted in our heritage—our sanctuary was built in 1928, and our congregation was organized to memorialize Rev. Joseph Pilmoor’s historic preaching on the courthouse steps of Currituck in 1772, which first brought Methodism to North Carolina—we continue to pioneer ministries that meet the needs of our community.

Over the years, Pilmoor has been the first to launch a bus ministry, nurture a thriving preschool, and sustain Middle Currituck’s food pantry in partnership with the Albemarle Food Bank. Today, we carry forward that same spirit of innovation and service.

Most importantly, Pilmoor Memorial is an accepting faith community that embraces all. We hope to encounter each person as a unique story and expression of God’s creative handiwork.

No matter where you are on your journey, you are welcome here. Together, let’s grow in faith, serve with joy, and follow Christ into the future.
