Food Pantry

The Pilmoor Memorial Emergency Food Center has been in operation for more than 20 years. The Food Pantry, as it is known more commonly, provides a balanced selection of canned and frozen foods to client families.  Food orders are gathered based on the size of the household and will generally provide at least a weeks worth of nutricious meals.

In addition to food, the Food Pantry can sometimes provide assistance with rent, utilities, or prescriptions.

As a rule, we encourage all potential food pantry clients to first visit the Currituck County Department of Social Services if they have not already done so.  DSS can often provide ongoing assistance to those in need while our services are, by necessity, short term.  By going to DSS first, Pilmoor's Food Pantry can fill in the gap as any DSS aid is processed.  We do NOT turn anyone away on the basis of a DSS denial.  The DSS referral is an attept to ensure that clients receive the aid they need and that they receive it in a timely manner.  Assistance is limited to residents of Currituck County.

Pilmoor's Food Pantry is supported generously by the United Way of the Albemarle (Elizabeth City) and works closely with Currituck County, the Department of Social Services, the Interfaith Community Outreach of Currituck and other local churches.
